General Induction (Greencard)

From
1st April 1999 the WorkCover
OH&S General Building and
Construction Industry Induction
programme is required to be
conducted over a period ranging
from five hours (for new entrants
in the industry), up to a full
day (for those with language
or learning difficulties).
Participants
will also be required to undertake
a written or oral assessment
to ensure they understand all
aspects of the Industry Induction.
Failure to successfully complete
the assessment will require
the individual to attend further
programmes until a successful
assessment is achieved to the
satisfaction of the trainer

FROM THE REGULATION
OH&S
Induction Training Obligation
Principal
Contractors must ensure that
all people carrying out construction
work at their construction site
have received OH&S Induction
training. Employers
must provide all employees carrying
out construction work who are
under their direct control with
OH&S Induction training.
Self
employed people must not carry
our construction work unless
they have undertaken OH&S
Induction training.
The
three areas of OH&S Induction
training
General OH&S Induction
training for all construction
work
Work Activity OH&S
Induction training for new
construction work activity
Site specific OH&S
Induction training for work
on a new construction site
Penalties
- as outlined in Construction
Safety Regulations are:
100
penalty units in the case of
a corporation
50 penalty units in the case
of an individual in the capacity
other than an employees
50 penalty units in the case
of an individual in capacity
as an employer.
(NB one (1) penalty unit = $100.00)

Doggers
are employed in the Building
and Construction, Mining, Manufacturing,
and Entertainment industries.
A Dogging ticket is required
before you can begin training
as a Rigger. This course covers
all the basic dogging operations.
This
course provides "hands
on" training in all basic
rigger skills, including:
How to estimate the mass of

loads for lifting appliances
Placing loads or objects
into place
There
is no formal education standard
required but you must be working
in the industry. You will receive
a statement of Attainment at

Power Tools

who use explosive powered fastening
tools must be accredited under
the Award and the WorkCover
Authority of NSW.

tools are highly dangerous if
used carelessly, so this one
day course for workers in the
Building and Construction Industry
trains users to safely:
Use, Clean, Lubricate
explosive powered fastening
tools and looks at the various
OH&S issues surrounding
their use.
You may need to obtain a
permit before you do this course

In
addition to the WorkCover ticket
participants will also be eligible
to get advanced standing on
other Construction Industry
