5.8 CHEMICALS

When handling chemicals personal hygiene is of the utmost importance.
Always wear the required protective clothing - gloves, overall, eye protection etc.

Wear necessary respirators of air wash masks. Be aware of the location of safety showers and eye wash units. When mixing procedure or a task involving handling chemicals is completed, thoroughly wash face, arms and hands.

This will safeguard you from accidentally ingesting (eating) the chemical on food, in a drink or by smoking.

This will also ensure that the chemicals is not left on the skin to cause possible irritation and later a rash.

Before commencing to sue chemicals, rub a little barrier cream on exposed skin. This again will prevent skin irritation a rash.

Protective equipment, such as gloves are available and must be worn.
Do not smoke in the closed proximity of any chemical.

No eating or drinking utensils are to taken into the immediate vicinity of chemicals and ensure that you wash your hands as soon as you have finished or before eating.

Always read the manufacturers label and obey instructions of use.
Ensure that you have been instructed in the handling procedures and safety equipment to be used.

Ask to see the material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) and read the information carefully.
