Remember - goods trades people and good tools go together, and safety rides with tools properly used. Wear eye protection.

DO NOT USE TOOLS WITH FRAYED OR DAMAGED ELECTRICAL LEADS OR CORDS. CHECK BEFORE USE


5.2.1 HAND TOOLS

Hand tools shall be used for their intended purpose only. The design capacity of hand tools shall not be exceeded by unauthorised attachments.

All tools on issue to employees and all tools used by them in their normal work should be inspected periodically to ensure that they are in safe working conditions. Any tools that do not meet this standard are to be repaired or replaced. It is expected that tools supplied by our employees and our Host Employers will be maintained in a safe and usable condition.

5.2.2 POWER TOOLS
Electrically powered tools and equipment shall be tested and tagged by a licensed electrical trades person quarterly and grounded at all times when in use.
Earth leakage circuit protection should be used with hand held electrical power tools. Air hose connections shall be secure to prevent accidental separation.

Operation switches or levers requiring constant pressure for operation shall not be tampered with to make the tool operate without constant hand or finger pressure.
Grinding wheel speeds shall conform to the manufacturers recommended speeds.
