5.1.1 EARTH LEAKAGE DEVICES
All
electrical power outlets used on projects must be fitted with an
approved "current operated core balance earth leakage system
circuit protection unit".
5.1.2
ELECTRICAL EXTENSION CORDS
Only
approved types of electrical extension cords no longer than 30 meters
shall be used; they shall be properly tested and tagged by a licensed
electrical trades person. Damaged or inoperable cords are to be
immediately repaired or replaced. Plug ends must be transparent
or of moulded plastic type.
Do not have electrical extension cords coiled when in use.
5.1.3
LIVE ELECTRIC CABLES
All
practical steps shall be taken to prevent the danger of live electric
cables or apparatus coming into contact with employees, either by
rendering the cables or apparatus electrically dead, or safely insulating
them.
5.2
TOOLS
ALWAYS
use the correct tool for the job.
ALWAYS use tools that are in good condition.
ALWAYS report defective equipment to your job Supervisor
immediately.
ALWAYS keep guards in place.
DO NOT use electrical leads or cords which are frayed, damaged
or the insulation cut, or do not have a current inspection tag attached.
DO NOT pull electrical leads or cords over sharp edges.
DO NOT run electrical leads or cords through oil or water.
DO NOT use electrical equipment if your hands are wet or
if standing on wet ground.
