SAFETY EQUIPMENT
 
 



4.1 SAFETY EQUIPMENT

All safety equipment supplied by Master Plumbers Apprentices Limited will comply with applicable Australian Standards. Basic personal protective equipment (PPE) will be provided by Master Plumbers Apprentices Limited. Should there be a need for specialised personal equipment, the Host Trainer will provide this and you should refer to your Host Trainer before commencing work.

All your issued safety equipment must be taken with you to every job including the TAFE you attend. If at anytime you turn up at a site/factory without your safety equipment and are able unable to start you may not be paid until such time as you return with the required equipment.

If you require additional safety equipment to carry out your duties in a safe manner, simply phone your Field Officer who will organise the extra equipment you require. The following is a list of PPE you will be issued with

SAFETY HELMET
EAR MUFFS
ELECTRIC WELDING FACE SHIELDS
SAFETY GLASSES (CLEAR WRAP AROUND GOGGLES)
WELDING GAUNTLETS (HEAT PROOF GLOVES)
STEEL TOED GUM BOOTS
FLIP UP WELDING GOGGLES

4.2 SAFETY CLOTHING

The right type of clothing ie: overalls, work trousers and shirts, must be worn at all times when you are at work.

Don't wear loose clothing or badly torn clothing that could get caught up in moving parts of machinery.

Damaged clothing or shirts with sleeves cut off at the shoulder should not be worn.

All issues clothing should be washed as often as needed to prevent rashes and dermatitis.

Waterproof coats and trousers and rubber boots must be worn when working in wet conditions.
It is advisable to have a dry coat or jumper to put on at crib time and change of shift.
